The Melodies of Life.

It took work. It took effort. It even took precious time. But finally after a few months Mae Revell managed to finally pull away from the dirty work of being a Turk. And just in time too. Shinra soon fell after Sephiroth had gone berserk and cast Meteor to destroy the planet. Of course this had nothing to do with Mae despite having known Sephiroth for a year prior to his insanity. He was a relatively nice man and very easy on the eyes. Zack had promised to hook them up on a date once but Sephiroth never came around to the idea of dating anyone. There had been a lot of devastation in Mae's life but also a new life was forming around herself. A peaceful one doing what she always dreamed of. Raising Chocobo.

Her and Exon, now her husband, had purchased a spit of land just outside of Kalm where she and he immediately went to work on a farm house. It would soon become a two story house with white paint and dusky blue shutters. Off to the right of the house was a large barn with a fenced in pasture for the Chocobo to run. Everything was turning out great. Exon was very supportive of Mae's dream and together they both named a small ebony Chocobo after a dear friend of theirs. Zack. Of course the darn thing was exactly like Zack in every way imaginable. It came as a real surprise to Mae.

Now, almost a year after leaving the Turks, Mae was working in the kitchen while she had sent Exon to run to town for bread and milk. She was busy putting together what she planned to be a pleasant surprise for when he returned; a cake with a home cooked meal to go along with it. Whether he would remember or not, which she would not hold against him if he forgot, today was the anniversary of their first date. It wasn't much of a first date considering she was drunk and slept with him; but she never regret it.

A slight, darkening haze filled the kitchen. Mae coughed as she crossed the kitchen to the oven. "Craaapppp." She muttered once the oven door was open. A pillar of smoke poured out. "So much for the roast." Mae took the oven mitt within arms reach, smacked it against her head in defeat before fishing the burning chunk of meat from inside the heated box. She set it carefully on the stove top and examined the charcoal lump that was suppose to be their meal. "...I'm hopeless." At least the cake had been the first thing she finished. It was nothing special, a chocolate cake with homemade vanilla frosting.

A heavy sigh pressed past her lips. Slowly she made for the back door beside the fridge and propped it open, relieving the kitchen of the dark mist. She was wearing a rose red apron over a casual pair of denim shorts and a white t-shirt. Looking out across the small yard at the barn Mae leaned against the door frame. She was simply happy here with Exon and the Chocobo who were playing contently in the small field. She could only hope Exon wasn't starving when he returned. Or else she was royally screwed as nothing was defrosted beside the smoking roast.

Going up and waking up to his gorgeous girlfriend, now wife naturally put Exon in a good mood. Now he was going to be walking hand in hand with her for the rest of their days in this life. He had known for a long time Mae was special, which is why he hadn't wasted time proposing to her. It had never been a second thought or second guessing himself, he just somehow knew.

It was also his way of saying to others that they should back the hell off. Of course some didn't get the memo anyway. That was okay, he would just have to beat them with the memo at times for them to get it, that was fun, too.

When he got back to his and Mae's home, he opened the door, bags in hand. "I'm home." He called out, knowing his beautiful wife was there. Then the smell of burnt roast entered his nose.

Must of been cooking.

Mae turned on her heels as the front door swung open with Exon entering the country house. Her hair fluttered against her shoulders and rosy cheeks. Only a slight smile adorned her pink lips; she was embarrassed by the roast. "Hey," She called out, swinging around the corner to peer at him from the kitchen. Mae leaned further over, grasping a bit of wall between her left hand, hanging her head to smile at him. "I uh... I had supper made... But the oven burnt it. I swear I had nothing to do with it!" Before he could respond Mae trekked back into the kitchen and retrieved the burnt mass. It was still smoldering in the pan. "I wanted to surprise you...."

Mae had the unique ability to be able to be cute and sexy at the same time, it was yet another one of her endearing traits. She wasn't perfect though and neither was he. But as corny and cliche as it might have sounded, he knew she was perfect for him. A soul mate, which he was starting to believe in more and more as he spent time with her didn't have to be perfect, they just were perfect for you.

He put the bags to the side for now after Mae finished explaining what happened. "It's okay. I appreciate you cooking for me, y'know? Tell you what. why not I make something and you just relax for a minute?" Exon was going have to help Mae improve her cooking skills but one thing at a time, he was thankful she cooked for him though. He thought it was sweet.

Mae's eyes, a pretty warm brown hue, sparkled as she turned to Exon. His words were kind but she did not feel better. Instead she simply wandered over to him, closing the already short distance between them, wrapped her arms around his neck and gently placed her head on his collarbone. She often did that when she felt tired, or just pathetic. Mae nuzzled him before saying, "I'm not hungry but thanks. Your so sweet Exon." Her index finger was already playing with his golden locks, twirling some around playfully. "How was it going to town?"

"Nothing really. Just had to do a bit of running around to get something's done and get the groceries out of the way. But I was in a hurry to get back home to my beautiful wife." When she came to hug him, he gently began kissing her neck. "Hm. Just what are you wearing right now?" He said more teasing. Even now after all this time, Mae still had that really strong effect on him. It wasn't just her looks but something else that always made him more drawn to her.

"Oh just some summer clothes..." Mae said between giggles. Exon's lips against her neck always tickled for whatever reason. Her facial features began to beam with a warm pink hue. "I suppose I really don't need the apron any longer," She then removed her hands from Exon and drew a step back. The two strings holding the apron together around her neck were quickly undone, along with the other two around her waist. She gathered the rose red material in her right hand and tossed it on a kitchen chair. Luckily it caught on the edge of the chair's back. Ever since moving out here Mae hadn't had much of a wardrobe change. She no longer wore her Turk uniform for obvious reasons and instead replaced it with shorts and t-shirts. The occasional tank top was seen when it was hot and muggy out. Today was one of those days. A simple tank and denim shorts. Her chocolate brown hair was thrown into a very loose, messy pony tail with her bangs curtaining her forehead. Soon she had her arms around him again and sighed happily, "At least there's still cake."

Exon was glad the apron was off; it saved him the trouble of taking it off himself. He was still amused kissing her neck caused Mae to giggle, but hardly complaining. It was cute and endearing. Of course he also liked making Mae make other sounds as well, but one thing at a time.

"You're not going to need your other clothes soon either." He teased, before picking Mae up bridal style and headed towards their room, closing it behind them. After setting the ex Turk on the bed, he began kissing her again on the lips this time hungrily. He was glad for the white t-shirt, it gave him a good view on days like these.

He then got it in mind about teasing her. Mae wasn't patient with things like these, and neither was he so he wondered which one would crack first, or if he could get her to beg or whine. Either would be pretty cute..but he doubted his ability to be that patient to tease her enough to that point.

Mae could feel her cheeks become a heated blossom pink as Exon mentioned the rest of her clothing. She would never get used to him talking to her like that, not that it was a bad thing. He always had ways of making her blush. She erupted into more laughter as her love pulled her into his arms and into their bedroom. The room itself was still pretty blah compared to the rest of the house. Besides sleeping and having...fun moments, the two were rarely in this part of the house. Exon smirked a bit at her giggling, finding it quite cute but didn't say anything. His hands going under her shirt to help her get it off of her. But to make things fair, he also went to get his own shirt off, letting it fall to the side forgotten. Not stopping or letting up, he kissed her on the lips again, trailing down to her neck and teasing her collar bone for a second.

It took some self-control and a bit of reluctance on his part to pull away, just enough to get Mae out of her bra, pausing for a moment to stare at her. No matter how many times he saw her naked, Mae gave this sense of awe, that this beautiful creature had given him the time of day. When he referred to the ex-Turk as beautiful, he didn't strictly talk about her looks; she had a very attractive personality as well.

"..You're beautiful Mae.." He murmured, and not for the first time she had heard it, but he meant every word of it.

Not wanting to keep her waiting and feeling slightly impatient himself, his hands worked eagerly to get her out of the bra. Once that was done, he kissed her again, trailing down her large breast, while his other hand worked to massage the other that was free.
