Personality: Vanessa’s a nice enough girl with a realistic view of the world. She tries not to rush and takes things at her own pace, for the most part. This can make her seem either lazy or over enthused when presented with any given task. She is considerably more expressive than her sister and can become very heated at the mention of any sort of contest. She’s been working hard to subdue her competitive nature, but fails sometimes. She tries to keep her gloating, or sore losing, to a minimum. At the end of the day, she’ll still be friends with whomever she competes (if they were friends to begin with).

Restrictions: Though low in reserve, Vanessa’s energy cannot be stolen or absorbed from her. She has an increased resistance against energy attacks. Regardless of how often she trains, she cannot raise her Spirit Energy.
Vanessa was born with a genetic defect (Spiritual Deficiency) that prevents her body from properly processing energies of any type. This raises her resistance to energy attacks but also severely limits her control over bodily energies, to the point where she can only use her own in specific ways. Currently, she only knows how to exert her own energy in short bursts, though other methods of energy control are possible.
Each of Vanessa’s sword techniques connect with enemies that are both physical and insubstantial. She can only use one technique at a time. Energy stolen with her Siphon Blade ability will be automatically lost after a short rest.

Special Techniques:
Spirit Blade: Vanessa runs energy through her weapon, giving it a green aura. Slightly increases damage on its own, but damage grows exponentially when succeeding ‘Siphon Blade’. This power deals high physical/energy damage when used to its full potential.
Siphon Blade: A sword technique that steals energy from its victims. The damage is not increased, but with each strike of her sword Vanessa forcibly extracts energy from her foe which she can then recycle for her own attacks. With repeated use, Vanessa can use this technique to wear down her opponents without killing them.
Spirit Dance: A technique that increases the user’s speed. The effect is only slight when used by itself, but Vanessa can immensely boost this technique’s output by using her ‘Siphon Blade’ ability first. This can be used in combination with ‘Spirit Blade’, but the stored energy will be quickly depleted.
Spirit Wave: Vanessa unleashes a burst of stored energy from her hand or sword. Fairly weak when used on its own, but the output intensifies with a greater reserve of energy.
Spell Card: Vanessa activates a spell card using her own Spirit Energy.

Weapons and Precious Items: Vanessa carries various spell cards that expel different elemental attacks when used. She has five well-known spell card elements: Fire (burning damage), Water (water damage, followed by freezing), Lightning (electric damage, followed by paralysis), Light (purifying damage, expels demons/spirits from hosts) and Sealing (drains energy from target). Tags can be applied from afar, or by touch.

History: Vanessa was raised comfortably by her parents; a pleasant family of three living in the Demon Realm. At a very young age, her family was torn apart by an ethereal intruder. One day, her father began to act very strangely. His actions were simply unordinary at first, but soon escalated to dangerous violence. A series of events plagued the family, incidents she does not like to talk about with others. All that is known by others is that she lost both her parents and developed an acute fear of enclosed areas.
An exorcist by the name of Sorana Corsair came to Vanessa’s aid when sent to investigate the family. Her mother had been slain and her father was nothing more a possessed corpse by then. After resolving the confrontation, Sorana took the young Vanessa home with her. After years of recovery, Vanessa has largely shaken off the events that stole her family and even began training to become a fully fledged shrine maiden.
