"-it's certainly a bit heart racing," Momo agreed, making sure Katherine was steady on the fence. Once the girl was secure, Momo glanced to up and down the street. Spotting no one, she glanced to the sidewalk below.


...how was she supposed to get Katherine safely to street level?


She was already this far. Full steam ahead: the way out is through! There's no time for hesitation - not again.

"Alright, so... I'm going to go down first, and then you jump down and I'll catch you, alright?"

Kathy, perched there on the fence and holding Momo's hand, gently gave the other girl's hand a gentle squeeze, turning to smile softly. "Okay, Momo. I trust you." And she meant it. She wasn't sure why... but she meant it with every fiber of her being.

"Alright then!" Momo said, doing her best to project more confidence than she felt.

Easily, she slid off the fence and onto the ground, as if she'd done it a hundred times before. The street was still clear of crowds, and their only company remained the local birds and a cat napping down the road.

"Ready?"

Kathy shifted a bit, admittedly rather nervous. Not about the landing, but the fall. She had perfect faith Momo would catch her. After all, they'd done this plenty of times before.

No, they hadn't, where had that come from? It must be because of how comfortable she felt with Momo. Shaking it off, Kathy took a deep, and pushed off from the ledge, toward Momo's waiting arms.

No time to panic.

As Katherine's shadow fell over her, Momo felt a thrill of panic shoot up her spine and quickly find its tomb beneath her concentration. All too quickly, the girl's weight hit her and she rocked, teetering backward -

- sliding one foot behind her and the other forward into a kneel as she pulled Katherine closer into her arms, wincing a little as her rear knee hit the concrete (gently as it could) under their combined weight. Exhaling, she slid onto her butt to relieve her knees of the weight.

"That went pretty well!" She said, with some relief.

Kathy giggled a bit in response, and just wrapped her arms tightly around Momo, burying her face in her shoulder. It just felt... so nice to hold her. 'It's like home.' She wasn't sure why that thought came to mind. How was it like home? Home was cold... except... except when her mother hugged her.

"...You're not hurt, are you Momo?"

"Nope, nope!" Momo assures quickly. "I've had worse!" Scraped knees. Cat scratches. Bruised elbows -

- She smiles, oddly at ease with the way Katherine clung to her, "We should probably get going soon, actually. I don't know when they'll notice you're gone, but we probably want to be a head of that if we're going to go anywhere, right?"

Kathy rather reluctantly peeled herself off of Momo, but still kept hold of her hand. "R-right!" She was surprised at herself. She was usually more.... reserved, than this. But she was just so excited, and Momo felt like someone she'd known forever... "Lead the way, Momo!"

"Alright!" 100% cheer - no breaks. 
With Katherine's hand in hers, Momo led them forward, away from the estate. "Is there anywhere you'd like to go in particular? It's fine if you don't know - it can be fun to just wander around, too." Even if she had to make something up entirely, Momo swore she would make this the best afternoon of Katherine's life or die trying.

However many steps it took - however many bricks she had to remove from the door- she'd destroy that lonely future.

Kathy thought about that a bit, humming to herself. "Um... I'm not sure. There's so much I don't know... K-Karaoke!" She suddenly blurted that out, blinking a bit. Why had that come to mind? And why did it appeal to her so much?

"Karaoke?" Momo blinked, somewhat surprised Katherine knew--- well. Cut that thought process off now. "Sure thing! I know the perfect place for it!" - They promised her a discount and, more importantly, guaranteed privacy. As they walked, Momo asked, "Know what you want to sing, or do you want to pick for each other?"

Kathy had absolutely no idea, but said the first thing that came to mind. "Um... I'll just look for something that speaks to me I guess? I heard something about that before..." Where, she had no idea, but she'd figure it out. Probably.

Momo shrugged, "Works for me!" This whole trip was for Katherine, anyway. As long as she had fun, it'd be alright.

The Karaoke building was fairly nondescript (insofar as these buildings went). The windows were plastered with posters of various artists (Momo included, but she wasn't dominating the display here, unlike some other buildings) and a sign at the top dubbed the building with the imaginative 'Meka-raoke!'

At this hour, business was modest - there were some teens at the counter getting ready to check in, and an older group on their way out = and Momo made a point of keeping her hood up and eyes down as they made their way inside. She was spotted immediately regardless by a clerk, however, who seemed to recognize her hoodie.

In short order, Katherine and Momo were set up in a lounge near the back, fitted with an L-shaped, foam-like sofa wrapped around a large television screen.


"...Alright, so..." Momo began to explain how to navigate the selection menu, but then remembered that Katherine couldn't see it. "Let's see..." A some fiddling with the settings, and the speakers would announce the song's title, the artist behind it, and its estimated difficulty, as well as give cues when navigating the menus. "How much do you want me to explain? Would you like to go first?"
