PostSubject: A Spiritual Encounter. ((Open.))   A Spiritual Encounter. ((Open.)) Empty2010-11-21, 2:10 am

Asakura Yoh was not aware of the reason he ended up here in this large bustling city. If there was a reason, it must have been a good one. If not then this must have been where the winds brought him. Nevertheless he was now lost in the Big Apple which was New York City. The city had been beautiful during the day. Breath taking even. But now that night had settled in, the sun sunken beneath the vast buildings that reminded him so much of Tokyo, Yoh seemed more aware of his surroundings.

Amidamaru, the silver haired samurai that accompanied Yoh on his journey, suddenly appeared in a whisk of spiritual energy. His eyes were narrow and darted to and fro. People in the city were not aware of spirits and despite this spirit, standing just as tall as Yoh and armed with two katanas, no one could see his figure. "Yoh-dono..." He whispered gently into the air.

Yoh's long locks of brown hair shifted as he nodded silently to his friend. So far nothing was amidst. Several times before in the recent years the duo had stumbled across various types of bad spirits. Tormented earth-bound souls or the occasional Oni. It was definitely strange finding Oni in America but Yoh shrugged it off as mere coincidence. None were remarkable in any given way either. Just blood thirsty and trying to gain a body of their own.

Thousands of bodies shuffled past Yoh. Not one dared a sparing glance at the man he had become during his visit in this world. His hair had grown long, his body aged and matured into a find young adult and his abilities had gotten stronger. Yet none of this mattered in this world. No one knew who he was or why he was here.

When Amidamaru stopped his motion, Yoh glanced back to see what his hold up had been. Yoh's hands were jammed into the depths of his orange wind pants, but clutched into a fist. He knew the look on the Samurai's face as a deadly one. Something was suspicious down the alleyway he now glared down.

+ + +

Down the alleyway, beside the backdoor of one of the thousands of buildings in the city, was a sinister man attacking someone. The man, dressed in heavy black garments, laughed while his fist forced itself into the others stomach, knocking them to the ground. "I'm going to kill you." Sneered the man. Behind him there was a pile of rubbish and metal pipes of sorts. Possibly for future construction or to be tossed in the garbage. Either way the man took up a piece of rusted pipe and held it high above his head. He brought the pipe vertically down with all the force he could muster but found his arms suddenly stopping as if he had struck a brick wall. "What the fuck?!" Declared the man, now staring at a young man with brown hair.

Yoh had caught the pipe in midair, clasping it between both his palms. His eyebrows were pulled together tightly with a frown painted his usually calm features. The man was caught off guard, which worked to Yoh's advantage. As the man swallowed hard, Yoh jerked the pipe toward his chest and managed to pry the man from the weapon. It was clear to Yoh that the man was nothing more than a thug, not trained in any sort of combat like others he had fought before. "I've fought Yakuza thugs with more common sense than you. Now leave before the authorities arrive." Demanded Yoh in a firm voice. The man stuttered, scattered to his feet and bolted down a second alleyway.

There was a clatter as Yoh tossed aside the metal pipe. His palms were slightly red from the impact from earlier but the sting was only mild. "There we go." He muttered to himself while he brushed off the partials of rust that clung to his hands. After a second of collecting himself Yoh turned to the victim with a strangely soothing smile. "Are you alright?"

((ooc: Possibly Mature later on. I need someone who can see spirits, that way your character can also interact with Amidamaru without thinking Yoh is talking to himself like a crazy bastard. Thanks.))

The Eternal watched from several stories above. He was about to intervene when a boy came up and handled the situation quite readily. However there was something odd, or slightly off about this boy. he focused his vision using necroplasma into the spectral realm. Then he spotted it. Some kind of ghost samurai. he would have to keep that in mind if he were ever to make contact with this person.

His chains held him aloft and made a slight clattering sound. He kept an eye on the situation. Since arriving here he had noticed that he was the only one. The Entity it seemed held no sway in this dimension. It also was apparent that he was back in time. The ruins of New York City were not ruins anymore. It seemed the city was in its prime. Millions of years of decay gone. He was home again. However it wasn't truly his home. Powers Industries was non existent as was any knowledge of him. Either as David Powers or the Eternal.

Since being here he hadn't felt any presence of any of his kind. So this human was quite fascinating. He would return to his alley later and contemplate this. For now he would simply observe. As the attacker was ushered away he watched as the boy turned to the victim. Here is where the Eternal tensed. He didn't know weather this person genuinely cared and saved the victim out of some sense of nobility or that they saved them for their own twisted ends. He would watch and wait.

The victim of the incident had been an older woman, probably in her late fifties. She had a few wrinkles probably due to stress. Her hair was only recently beginning to change from the ebony hue it originally was to a more silver tone. Her sunken orbs stared blankly at Yoh who had extended a hand in order to help her back to her feet. "Why, thank you young man." She finally stammered and grasped his wrist with both her small hands. Yoh pulled back gently until her weight was directed on her feet once more. She wobbled before catching her balance.

"It's not a problem. Be careful now." Said Yoh as he turned back to the street he had wandered from and began to walk once more. Just before reaching the crowd of bodies on the sidewalk, the samurai came before Yoh once more. He seemed distressed but Yoh did not address the subject. Instead the young man pressed forward with hands jammed into the depths of his pockets.

It was close to midnight now and still New York bustled. The streets were still as clogged as a blood vessel of a human who ate one too many burgers in his/her life time. It didn't bother Yoh however. Tokyo was much like this even on a good day. The only part about New York City that did strike a nerve with the Asakura youth? The fact that resting in the street was basically a crime. And no camping in the parks either. This meant that the young man had to give a little and bother to rent a Motel room for the time being. Besides, walking around New York with a sheathed katana seemed to wreak more havoc than he desired.

A few minutes passed before Yoh reached an empty park, small compared to the last one he had visited. There were only a few trees to diminish the sound of traffic buzzing all around him. About three street lights illuminated the entire park. Yoh continued to walk down the small path that went right through the park until he came across an empty bench beneath one of the lights. There had been several other benches however they were occupied with bodies. If they were dead or just making out was beyond Yoh.

The Eternal followed the boy from great heights and through low shadows. Normally in New York no one would think twice about this person. However the Eternal wasn't normal. Anyone who had a Samurai Spirit following them deserved some merit of attention. He pulled his chains in and folded his cloak around himself as he settled into a tree to observe this person. So far it looked like he was wandering aimlessly. The Eternal was beginning to think this boy had no where else to go. He may have to take him back home, back to Hope alley.

Amidamaru had once more returned loyally to Yoh's side but this time in a more human shape than the last. If another could see spirits they would only see a skinny young man with brown hair and blaze orange pants and a tall, well built man dressed in Samurai attire and hair the color of quick silver. His eyes were dark, ever contemplating the meaning of life. Within the depths of his spirit, Amidamaru knew something was off. Either about this entire town, a network for bandits of the various sorts like in Tokyo or otherwise. Yet he did not verbally mention this to Yoh. The young shaman, though peaceful in appearance, seemed already bothered by the same essence.

Yoh, after shoving past a large yawn, jammed a hand deep into his right pants pocket. The depths of the pocket seemed much larger than they should be, considering the young man pulled a rather bulky pair of orange headphones from within and a small silver box at the end. It had been a present from a teenager he and Amidamaru protected from being hit by a car a few weeks prior. He had called it an Ipod and it was to replace the bulk load of his crappy CD player and record player that now collected dust at the motel. Yoh chuckled to himself as he recalled the memory of stealing the records from his dad, Mikihisa. They had been the closest he had gotten to the man as a child and now the last thing he remembered him by.

There was something inhuman lurking around, searching and looking for prey. To most people, they wouldn't be able to sense them, let alone see but to others there was a dark and forbidding presence. A feeling of something not natural when it came to spirits and more then likely malevolent. The Eternal and Yoh would seem them, then, floating above unsuspecting people who went about their business. Their bodies were humanoid, but clearly not human, and had a scythe far too large for any normal human to hope to wield.

There was about four of them total, just circling above for a bit. They had truthfully been attracted by the large amount of spiritual power Yoh possessed, but weren't interested in the youth directly. Instead, it was the humans that drew them in; their prey.

It was then they struck when a chance presented themselves when there was less people around, one of them darted forward with a clawed hand a woman and her child, all who would know nothing out of the ordinary was wrong besides a strange breeze. After all, the beings were definitely evil spiritual creatures of some kind.

The Eternal normally didn't venture out in public, however upon seeing the strange creature attack a woman and her child he had no other choice. The chains that held him aloft released their hold on the building in mid transit. They retracted into his chest and he allowed his cloak to direct him towards the woman and child. Only one thought entered his mind. *Could this be a trap?* The doubt lasted less than a moment.

At speeds no normal human could survive the Eternal landed next to the woman and her child and wrapped them in his cloak. The cloak formed around them and hardened. Necroplasmic energy charged the cloak to prevent non corporeal beings from penetrating it. He knew the startled woman would most likely panic. he looked at her. He knew his appearance was somewhat unsettling. However he tried to speak as gentile as his armor would allow. A low gravely two toned voice emitted from him. "Stay calm, don't move and you and your child will be alright. This will be over soon." He finished.

Chains snaked out from under the hardened cloak and they too were charged with Necroplasmic energy. He used them as his "eyes" so he could see beyond the shell he had created.

"Yoh-dono!" Exhaled the samurai loudly to his Master. Before Amidmaru had a chance to completely say his title however, Yoh was already on his feet and focused on the strange creature in the distance. He had been caught off guard which was not uncommon but definitely not welcomed. Much of his mind had been focused on whatever was lurking beyond the shadows, simply watching. Rich dark chocolate orbs flared when he saw the creatures motives; a child and mother minding their own business. Immediately the shaman sprung to his feet only stumbling slightly on his sandals before entering a full board run.

"Amidamaru, Hyōi Gattai." The shaman demanded the samurai. In a split second the figure of the man condensed and reshaped itself into an orb of pure silver energy. While Yoh continued his jog, Yoh took grasp of this orb then forced it into his own body. A sensation of aura tingled his body and rippled from him in a strange pressure of energy. Two spirits existing in one form.

Both Yoh and Amidamaru were surprised however to see that the same presence from earlier had finally revealed itself in order to protect the small family. "Good call." Yoh encouraged while readying himself into a fighting stance. He was now close enough to the scene where the creature could debate on turning himself to Yoh or not. Yoh hoped for it though. His katana may not have been on him however over the years, Amidamaru had learned to battle without it as well as the shaman himself. It was not as effective but it would have to make do. "Over here! Come get me!" Called Yoh. If he could bring it away from other individuals there would be less suspicion.

In Multi-Verse The Eternal found himself residing in, normal people knew about the supernatural and interacted with them on a daily basis. Even in basic history, students were taught about about how certain things came to be as they were today. Such as how things being stable between the various races that lived on earth, compared to how things were in the past.

This, however, didn't mean people wouldn't act naturally when finding themselves caught in the middle.

After all, it wasn't everyday a creature that looked like it had jumped fresh out of Spawn comics jumped in to protect them.

On closer look, it would become apparent the woman or child for that matter were at least completely human, as they had pointed ears. They clutched their child to them, not that it would do anything in reality but wanting to comfort of their baby close. The baby did cry a bit, but she focused on calming and in turn keeping herself calm when it became apparent the strange creature wasn't attacking her. Their first thought was them being a demon of some sort, but something made her doubt that.

The creature was unable to get past the barrier and it seemed to hiss, before noticing Yoh. This did catch the thing's attention, as did the others who stayed back a bit for some reason or another. Once focused on the Shaman, it swung its scythe, and a strange white energy in the shape of an arc came at them.

The others by this time decided a change of tactics and circled around, trying to find an opening for the woman and child, but keeping wary and cautious eyes on the new being known as The Eternal.

Once the family was calmed a bit the Eternal began to formulate a plan. Then it came to him. It was a simple plan however it was one he hoped would work.

The Eternal looked to the family and place a clawed finger to his mask. "Shhhhh...... Keep very still." The Eternal's cloak readied itself for his plan. He took in a deep breath. As he blew it out the cloak quickly unraveled from his person and moved under the people sheltered in it. Thus forming a cocoon of sorts. This limited his ranged movement however he had other ways.

As the cloak re-positioned itself the Eternal emerged, his eyes blazing with necroplasma and lashed his chains out to two of the creatures surrounding them. He charged them with necroplasma. As the chains soared towards their targets the Eternal charged his hands with the same energy. He launched bolts of necroplasma at the strange creatures. He made sure to augment it so it wouldn't harm any corporeal creatures if the spirit ones managed to dodge it.

Yoh and Amidamaru mentally braced themselves for the attack that sped their way. After so many years of working together the duo only needed to exist in this form to communicate their wills. Amidamaru, with his training in the art of Bushido, knew to be patient and wait until the timing was perfect. Yoh, having experienced so many different battles in his life knew that without a weapon he would only be able to defend against this menace. It would be an easy task however not his goal. Yoh slipped into a stance, eyes narrowed as the energy was now only a foot away. There was a strange sensation that burned Asakura's own aura now that it was in such close range. It felt vaguely similar to an attack which he survived back in his own world. Shamanic Energy almost. But not quite. Now that the heat was warming his body, only inches now, Yoh scrambled to dodge and roll to his right. His body tucked in tightly, now crouching on his feet as he readied himself for anything.

"What are they...?" He heard Amidamaru murmur mentally. Yoh shook his head in response. This world had sprung so much surprises on him already that Yoh could not honestly give an answer. It could have been a Grim Reaper for all he knew and this battle would be fruitless. Suddenly he averted his eyes and stared at the man he had in a way encountered before. It seemed to also be attacking the creatures. Now Yoh really felt left out of the party. He needed something as a weapon. If only he hadn't tossed that metal away earlier.

Whatever the energy was made out of, it was obviously potent judging by the fact it had cut pieces of playground equipment in half, leaving metal bars and the like scattered everywhere. Too normal people though, it would just appear they had broken for no reason what so ever. It didn't stop its attack though, and instead tried to close the gap in attempt to cleave Yoh in half.

The coccon prevented the creatures from attacking the woman and their child, which was the good news. The bad news was, it seemed to have pissed them off so they instead focused on the two things that had gotten in their way: The Eternal and Yoh.

They didn't expect the next attacks however.

The chains caught the first one off guard, though didn't destroy it instantly, it was the blast that did. The next one barely managed to get out the way, turning into a silver ball that teleported safely away. One of the stray blast hit the scythe of one charging Yoh, disarming it as the broken scythe landed by the Shaman's feet. This didn't stop the strange creature from trying to grab him with his hands.

As for the remaining two(that weren't focused on Yoh) they attempted to double team The Eternal. To be precise, they did the same attack the other had on the Shaman. Only difference this time, they combined to make a much larger and powerful attack.

The Eternal couldn't fight effectively tethered to the family like this. So he did what he thought was best. He drove his fist into the ground and used his necroplasma to augment the ground. A small wall popped up to block him from the attack. He knew the attack would cut through the wall but he didn't create it to stop the attack.

As the wall blocked the view from his enemies to him, The Eternal used the momentary blind spot to quickly drop his armored cloak and wrap the family in it. From there he and the family teleported to the roof top he was just on. He tried his best to shield their ears from the torturous sounds from the between worlds and left them there.

The Eternal then teleported back to where the Shaman was. In a green flash of energy he took a defensive stance next to Yoh. "We need to end this quickly before someone gets hurt." he said. His cloak retracted back into the armor and his elbow blades extended and charged with necroplasma. His head spike lay back into its groove on his helmet. The Eternal was now in combat mode. "I'll try for the scythe. That may be their source of power." he said. With that the Eternal dashed forward and leaped. His body spun like a top. His Elbow blades aiming for the powerful scythe.

Yoh immediately took notice of the destroyed playground equipment. It had boggled him, only briefly, why the playground was still made of such metals and not plastic. But the Shaman would have no need to complain as it provided a source of offense now. Without another thought the Shaman sprang to his feet to dash over to the now rubble of the equipment. He was quick to collect a chunk long enough to equal a blade and thin enough to move with a sort of gracefulness. Mentally both Yoh and Amidamaru smirked as they were now apart of the world again and the tides of battle had finally turned. Hearing the Eternal speak was unusual for Yoh, yet the Shaman did not disagree. "Fine by me." He returned before sliding into a stance. He resembled a samurai at the start of battle, blade straight before him and legs apart. "Shinkuu buddha-giri!" Exclaimed the young man suddenly. There was an instant were the aura that rippled forth from his own body extended its reach to the metal and consumed it. Yoh then brought it down as if slashing an opponent at close range horizontally. Instead of hitting anything beside the breeze itself, the chunk of metal shot forth a beam of golden energy. The beam was wild at first but became similar to the slash the creature preformed earlier. It sped directly at the monstrosity focused on Yoh, heated with spiritual energy known to a shaman as Furyoku.

The family was a bit startled, but the young mother remained calm all things considered. They held their baby close to them as the fighting continued down below. They didn't like heights, but the alternative to being stuck out there was much worse.

As for the strange spirit-like creatures, they weren't doing as well anymore. The one Yoh had attacked had been speeding forward the Shaman at inhuman speed, but the drawback was they didn't have to stop themselves or really get out the way.

They were cleanly cut in half, no blood was seen and instead their bodies merely dissolved in some strange silver vapor.

Now with only two of them left, they decided to shift tactics a bit. However, when the Eternal attacked the already damaged scythe on the ground destroying the weapon they hissed. It was a strange eerie sound probably meaning they were pissed if nothing else.

Then they did something..odd.

Both turned in silver balls of silver light as if teleporting again, only this time they connected. A bright flash of light was seen, and once it died down a much bigger version of them stood with the wicked scythe, standing at least 14 feet high. There was only one of them now, but it seemed from the looks of things they had given themselves something of a boost.

(OCC: I was just guessing the Eternal was aiming for the scythe on the ground, if not I can edit a bit)

The Eternal leaped back and stood next to Yoh. "This could be a problem. We need to lure this thing away from the people." He said. "I could attempt to make this creature visible to others however I believe that would invoke panic." He started considering his options.

Considering the creature size it would have the range advantage. So the Eternal extended his chains and wrapped them around his arms charging them with Necroplasma. His 'whips' should bridge the gap. without taking his eyes off the creature he yelled at the crowd. "Stay back!!" he shouted. Then he started moving away from Yoh in a slow circle. he intended to flank the creature. he hoped Yoh would catch on.

"Yoh-dono, we should follow his example..." Amidamaru was weary of this other 'man' orchestrating yet felt as if he had more of an idea how to approach the matter. Amidamaru was only a samurai who had seen more than his fair shares of fights and Yoh was only a trained Shaman. Yoh mentally agreed with the thought and began to side step carefully, the opposite direction Eternal had begun.

"Amidamaru," Breathed Yoh aloud. It caught the Samurai's attention. "we'll have to keep our guard up. This thing might just explode like a dud."

"Yes." Came the mental voice of Amidamaru. The Shaman clasped the hunk of metal tighter now, his knuckles turning white with pressure. His stance never swayed from that of a prepared warrior.

Naturally, the crowd being very heavily consisted of humans had the typical reaction; move out the way quickly from harm. In comparison, the non-human and super human population(that counted humans with powers, either natural born or trained like Ki and the like) was much smaller. Yoh and The Eternal both counted as part of the Meta-Human population to put a tag.

As for the creature, it focused entirely on the Necro Warrior. Though it didn't rush or anything and seemed to be slowly taking its time; moving at a slow walk towards its 'prey'. If it had something in mind or anything else it really didn't look like it.

In the background, it looked like the police had arrived with all the commotion. The strange part was they didn't go to engage what was going on, rather they seemed to stay in the back to keep the crowd calm.

Then something that didn't happen everyday occurred.

A spear went through the thing's shoulder and into the ground, it didn't seem to cause it pain, but it did stagger it. The spear embedded into the ground suddenly vanished in a silver light, appearing in a young woman's hand. They were armored and greatly resembled the old Valkyrie from the Norse legends. She was flying in the air and keeping out of the thing's reach for now.

From a opposite angle from the air, the creature was hit with a silver ball of energy, this came from another woman this one had angel-like wings. Stranger still, some armoured men pulled out carrying some strange rifles. They fired what looked like a white bullets that released some kind of white energy, that while not damaging the creature, seem to make it visible for everyone else to see.

Stranger still, the men and women all had a symbol on them from whatever organization they were from and though both the strange women didn't wear a uniform, they too had the symbol located on their person somewhere on their clothes. On one of the trucks that had pulled up it had read 'Nobus' on it, whatever that was.(That and M.H.C.P)

Now it became apparent why the police had held back in the first place. As things were, either Yoh or the Eternal had a good chance to finish the creature right now if the extra help didn't get rid of it first.

In his current state, Yoh was of very little use. The bar of metal he began to use in place of his katana would only hold up against one swing with Yoh's spiritual essence. That was enough for the Shaman however. He and Amidamaru, joined spiritually, charged the beast which The Eternal had begun to waste into. Yoh only had one chance. He charged furyoku into one swing and with that horizontal slash of the metal bar erupted a silver-blue haze of light. It flickered before gaining speed and power. On its own it easily covered the remaining distance between Yoh and the beast. The blow was aimed beneath The Eternal, directed more toward the waist of the monster.

With the hellish spiritual creature visible and tangible for everyone to see, as well as being surrounded by enemies of all sides it never stood much of a chance. The Eternal's attack succeeded while it was distracted by all the other opponents and unable to move or teleport in time. That was to say, the being was cut in half more or less, Yoh's attack was just the icing on the cake in this case.

There wasn't any blood though. Instead, whatever the creature was, it simply seemed to evaporate, turning into a silver mist before vanishing. It's physical body merely crumbled into the ground before vanishing, the only thing left was the wickedly long and strange scythe.

When the danger had passed from the strange being, the others focused on the Eternal and Yoh, not attacking though but playing it cautiously. The woman that looked like she could be a Angel of some kind and the even stranger Valkyrie didn't attack but kept their distance, keeping a eye on them.

"We're not here to start fights we can avoid, stand down."

The masculine voice cut through the crowd, making the other men and women relax, but still had a grip on their weapons just in case. Stepping a bit from the mass of personnel was a man, a very short one probably only about 5'0 at the most. They had a scars on their body and a had a rough physical appearance over all, dull short black hair and eyes. It was the way they carried themselves and the eyes that made it clear what he was; they were a professional through and through giving off the vibe of a old soldier. Or maybe more accurately, a commander.

"I'm Chris Holand of the Meta Human Containment Unit." They said, being diplomatic was part of their training and pissing off unknowns was not only counter productive, it was stupid. "We picked up some very powerful energy signatures that popped up that didn't seem native to this realm. Since those signatures seem to come from you two, its safe to say it belongs to you two. That said, can I have your names?"

The one with the armor, they seemed far more dangerous then the other that looked human. Looked being the keyword; some of the egg heads that stood in the background had commented it wasn't. Not that it was anything to take lightly because humans could be incredibly dangerous with the right training.

He got the feeling this was going to be a much more interesting case then usual.

The Eternal stood there for a moment. Then he retracted his chains and let his cloak spill out and around him. His eyes flashed with necroplasmic energy then faded to a dull glow of eerie green. As his cloak enveloped him his high collar his his face once again in shadow. He felt comfortable there. He liked the shadows. He was at home there. This, being out in the open he felt... exposed. He was in no more danger than normal. It was just a comfort level thing.

The Eternal regarded the commander. He cocked his head to one side. "Meta Human Containment Unit?" He Echoed. The Eternal moved back and some his cloak parted slightly. "Is it your intention to contain us? Choose your next words carefully." His hand came out slightly, glowing dimly with power. The Eternal had no intention to attack them he was just going to teleport away however they didn't need to know that. He decided tit would be better to avoid any more hassles of the day. "I am called the Eternal." He said simply and wrapped his cloak around himself and in a flash of green flame he was gone.
