Abilities:
Akanthis has a set of poisonous fangs in each of her forms. As a forest dragon, she is smaller than others of her kind—but quicker in both sky and on land, making her poison a good weapon. The poison of her dragon form can and does poison other dragons who would otherwise be immune to such natural toxins. Her dragon and cat forms also have poisonous talons in the place of dew claws on the forefeet.
In her dragon form, she can fly.
She can understand all forms of animal life (not human languages) and has a near empathy for plant life.

Personality: Akanthis is, or was, generally a careful soul. She was cautious when meeting new people, watching them closely to see their intentions and whether or not they posed a threat to her domain. If she deemed them trouble, they were quickly dispatched or scared away. Once someone had gained her trust she was unendingly loyal and holds oaths with high value. Now, she has a much more volatile temper and her mood frequently swings into the melancholy.

Powers:
Silver Tongue (Human Form) – with a kiss, Akanthis can learn any and all languages the receiver knows. The receiver must want to be understood and to have her understand, however.
Growth – Akanthis can summon green growth to provide cover, thorns and vines to entangle, and stands of trees.
Animal Allegiance (Raan mir tah) – Akanthis can summon nearby animals to her aid. She can only use this once per day and is loathe to do so because she doesn’t want her animal friends dying for her.
Clear Skies (Lok vah koor) – Akanthis can clear away bad weather from the immediate vicinity. It only lasts about half an hour and would only mildly affect bad storms such hurricanes.
Frost Breath (Fo krah diin) – Akanthis’ breath becomes a blizzard, wielding frost damage on her opponent and sometimes slowing them. She rarely uses this power except when facing other dragons as it’d hurt her forest.
Peace (Kaan drem ov) – Akanthis can calm animal life and weak minded individuals. This won’t work on the strong willed.
Storm Call (Strun bah qo) – Akanthis can summon a rain storm and lightning. She sometimes uses this to help in a draught, keeping a watchful eye so the lightning doesn’t start a fire.

Occupation: Former guardian of a forest and the local humans who lived in harmony with it. Was also a tutor in the martial arts.

History: Akanthis, as she was called when she walked in her human guise amongst the mortals, was the guardian of the largest forest in all of Ancient Ireland. The humans who lived nearby and some within its boundaries were also under her protection. She would travel to the villages sometimes and help the folk there with their activities. When she found a worthy student, she would teach them her skills of martial arts, herbalry, forestry, etc. Her most notable student is the Djinn-Werewolf, Estrielle, who travelled with her for a time and became her friend. When Christianity first reached Eire’s fair shores, it brought with it a multitude of travelers. Amongst them was a demigoddess of Zosime’s brood. She was a destructive, foul girl who wreaked havoc amongst the villages and Akanthis’ forest. The dragon killed her and for this, the other Daughters of Zosime drew her out to the sea where the siren-daughter, Mele Aysu, along with Saskia wrapped the dragon in magical iron chains, so she drowned in the depths of the Irish Sea. Unluckily for these daughters, they will soon learn that spelled iron can be broken by modern technology.
