History: Myuki and Tono Katsu have been trying for a baby for years now and have been unable to conceive. They discovered the baby on a hike through the woods. It was there they found a baby outside the small mountain village of Kifune just north of Kyoto. She was half starved and hasn't eaten in a day or so. The young couple took the baby home and nursed her back to health. After some deliberation with each other they decided to keep the baby, adopting her as their own.
It had been a long harsh winter that year so no one had seen the two in a few months. No one would question them. It wasn't long after that they discovered the baby was completely blind. That didn't matter to the couple. They had a daughter they so longed for. They named her after their ancestor who was also blind. Zatoichi or Ichi for short.
It wasn't until a few years later when Myuki became pregnant with Akane. Even still the love they had for Ichi was strong and the family grew.
When Ichi was old enough she was entered into a special school for the blind. Not only did they give her an education. They taught her how to be independent and self sufficient. They also taught her the trade of massage. Even with all this Ichi felt she was meant for something greater. Against her teacher and subsequently her parents wishes she took up sword training.
Weeks turned into months and months into years. Soon the little girl was a young woman. In three years time she became a master of the quick draw. As well as an expert in other various fighting styles.
Shortly after Ichi's 18th birthday her village was visited by Yakuza. They demanded a “protection fee” and when her father refused they killed him. Soon after that she set out on her own. It was a journey of self discovery and revenge. Armed with her ancestors sword and the tools to survive the young woman starts on her own path.
