Weapons and Precious Items:
Combat Knife: Just the standard combat knife. There isn't anything particularly impressive about it; though its made of a higher quality then the ones usually found on earth. It has a sharp edge and is solidly durable, but is more of a emergency melee weapon then anything. While it can pierce armored targets, it still has a difficult time.
Sidewinder: The Sidwinder pistol the workhorse of the Alus forces, mostly do its ability to adapt and dependability. It also has no problems with over heating, though it does need to recharge with over use. It's other feature is the ability to load with different ammunition. There's red vials which can be inserted into the weapon for various effects.
Red is for fire elemental energy. White for electricity and blue for ice--which can freeze targets but fire at a notably slower rate. Each have its pro's and cons. It's default state can effect intangible beings. It has a max range of forty meters. Since they're cartridge based, it can only fire them when inserted and to use its default energy.

History: There isn't too much to say about Dean, but ever since he was small he had always wanted to prove himself on the field. It took a lot of work on his part, but after joining the military he worked his way to a decent position, and met a beautiful woman who later became his wife.
He's a veteran, having been around in his fair share of conflicts but not nearly as Jacob, the leader of the Ursa unit which most of the group look up to.
