PostSubject: Avalice: Larks Prelude   Avalice: Larks Prelude Empty2015-02-28, 11:46 am

It was a dark night along the waters of the Pangu Lagoon. But the darkness was being cast away by the light eminating from a simple campfire along the water near some old Dragon-Obelisks. Lark, a male Wildcat had set up camp. A simple sleeping bag, campfire, and a toolbox for various gadgets seemed to be all that was prominent at the campsite.

Lark was clearly bored as he sat at the fire, opening his simple Avalacian Receiver to see if he could find any signal to perhaps listen to some music or some radio-broadcast. Lark yawned loudly of boredom, looking to the north at the ruins in the dark. Speaking to himself after staring at them intently as his receiver found little to make time go by "Tommorow Ruins, Tommorow, and i'll have jackpot" after that he glanced around then sighed, bringing his legs up and folding his arms around them lowering his head against them. "I really need freinds..."

Pain. Curse that warlock for causing such pain. For forcing her to fail, and casting her adrift to... wherever this was now. Every motion of her body quivered withe very cautious step she made as she stalked through the undergrowth. And shrinking from her full size to this reduced state had only agitated them further, necessary as it was.

It was peculiarly quiet, here in this wilderness, though her senses were keen enough to detect the wildlife regardless. The water was still and gentle, and all living things in her vicinity seemed to be still and quiet. Probably, they could detect her presence as well and were reacting with caution. Well, she could hardly blame them. A moderately large armored reptile was scary, right?

Aided by this relative silence, though she would probably have heard it regardless, she detected the sound of a small fire, accompanied by someone speaking some foreign language aloud. Bolstered by the knowledge of nearby intelligent life, and possibly medical attention if she could stage the encounter properly, Anneve made her way slowly to the fire, strange gap of silence following in her wake.

Lark lifted himself up, and streched, yawning again loudly. Moving his hands up to stroke across the fur on his head. Glancing around afterwards, moving to sit infront of the fire. Throwing a small stick into it. Proceeding with his habit of speaking to himself "Middle of the Night and not tired..." Lark sighed again and looks at his receiver.

"And no signal...Perhaps i still got some stored music." Noticing he was still talking to clearly noone he rolls his eyes and decides to remains silent.

The fire still flickering iluminating the dark.

Anneve continued pacing forward until she came to the crest of a hill, several meters of the campsite but within easy view. To minimize the chances of being scene, she crouched low to the ground. The individual below was... odd. They were a bipedal cat, essentially, which wasn't something she had ever encountered before - or heard of encountering. Given that, she couldn't think of a form to adopt that would be comfortable to it. She could mimic it, but then her sensory horns would draw attention. And she couldn't speak whatever language it was using, either. But she couldn't just remain as she is, surely; the body of an apex predator is good for many things, but first impressions weren't one of them.

A sudden change in the wind casting air over and past her injured, bloodied body took that decision from her. Her scent was being carried directly to the alien being below, and if it had a cat's nose then it would surely detect her. What to do? Stay and risk a fight that she didn't need or want, or leave and risk losing any chance at aid she could receive? She could heal on her own eventually. Probably. Maybe... but she didn't even know the extent of her own injuries and self-treatment wasn't likely to be anywhere near as effective.

What to do?

Lark looked down at his receiver still, looking through his options when suddenly his ears raised as he sniffed the air, somthing else was prevelant over the smoke of the fire. A sudden change in his sorroundings, a different scent, and a lack of noise...Strangely so.

He put his receiver into his pocket as his eyes search around the sorroundings with a raised brow, a hand at his hip where his pulser is located. This area is known for the occasional danger....Not just due to the ruins, but the creatures around it like the wasps, among things. Speaking lowly to himself as if assuring himself of somthing "Its propaly nothing...But if there is somthing this Wildcat will show its claws and fangs..."

Anneve stilled in surprise. She... wasn't found? That was reassuring, but did little to help her solve her dilemma. To draw attention, or not to draw attention. Leave or stay? Making a decision, she quickly, but carefully, shrank in size - to roughly the size of an average dog - to minimize how threatening she appeared. This accomplished, and her wounds now much more agitated and debilitating, she started her approach... only to trip on her weaker legs and tumble down the hill.

Not good!

Lark looked suprised at the strange....small....Scaled beast...as it stumbled down, shocked...He stepped alittle backwards and looked over it wide eyed in shock "By the Kingdom Stone!..." Realising that it wasnt that big....He removed his hand from his hip, indeed after it was clumsy enough to stumble "What are you?...." Still keeping some distance from the strange...creature....For now.

He kept eying its features. And its wounds. "Shoo... I dont want you luring bigger things here" He lifted his hands in a shooing manner as if trying to shoo this strange thing away. "If anything smells your blood..."

Anneve shifted, allowing herself to wince as there wasn't much point in wasting the energy to suppress it. The alien was saying something, and while she couldn't understand his words she could understand his gestures easily enough. Unfortunately, even if she wanted to get up and leave at this point, her tired, heavily injured body simply refused to move. She could shift into a stronger, more durable form, but that would be unnecessarily alarming... and she wanted treatment anyway. She couldn't fathom how the alien might react, but if it decided to take hostile action she could shift and respond in kind easily...

Not that she wanted to hurt him. She would much rather simply leave him alone if he wouldn't be of aid, but if he were to attack she would have to respond in kind. Even then, she didn't want to kill him. He might organize a hunt of some sort for her if he was simply scared away, but she could shift into a different form and blend in easily enough. Probably.

These thoughts circling her head, Anneve lay where she'd fallen - having tried and failed to stand already. Still, she couldn't help but tense slightly due to nervousness.

Lark still shooed at the strange creature infront of him before looking at it faling to get up "Your not gonna be able to move are you?..." sighing he circles the creature slightly to inspect it, clearly having never seen anything like this being before. He then started speaking, more to himself than anything clearly "Well i am not moving this camp! No i am not" looking over the creature again.

He didnt seem quite sure what to make of it, nor what to do clearly. Thinking to himself before moving to his toolbox by the fire, beginning his routine of random talking to himself "Whatever you are, im am quite sure i dont want to touch you. Whatever hurt you might come out here and attack you still, and that would mean attacking me. Oh wonderful...At least thats what the Pulser is for i suppose" While his random mumbling contiued he fished up a small strange roll of white cloth or silk of some kind and a small wrapped up piece of food.

Then turning to the beast, he still observed it, for its injuries and for what kind of injuries it would be. "Im being such an idiot arnt i?.."

When it became apparent Lark wasn't going to attack or try and force her to leave, Annever relaxed, allowing her head to fall - though she continued 'watching' him surreptitiously with her horns even then. As he rambled on, she took the opportunity to try and place his language. It didn't sound even remotely familiar, but she recognized that it had a clear syntax regardless. At the moment, she assumed he was either complaining about the situation or trying to sooth her - assuming he acted anything like any species she was familiar with.

Lark proceed his pacing and eyeing the beast infront of him, holding the cloth and silks as he ripped some of it, trying to make what would seem to be a makeshift bandage "Now your going to let me bandage you, or ill have to push you out to leave, okay?" eyeing the best again , staring straight at it, then shudders "If you bite me im going to be very, very angry" After that he proceeded to approach the beast...

Unable to understand his words, but recognizing that he was providing her medical attention, Anneve remained obediently still. Given her eyes were closed, it would be easy to mistakenly assume she was sleeping.

Approaching the wounded beast with the makeshift bandages he starts attempting to bandage up the wounds he can see, clearly an amateur at this..But its help somewhat.

"Please dont bite, please dont bite, please dont bite." He keeps muttering to himself however very lowly as he does this. He appears to be a very distracted person...

Contrary to his fears - and in spite of her pain - Anneve didn't bite, or snap. Instead, her breathing momentarily hitched whenever Lark agitated a wound. Otherwise, she remained still and unmoving. It didn't particularly matter to her if the bandages were applied sloppily - they were a better alternative than bleeding out. Well, she couldn't bleed out - per say - but losing so much blood slowed the healing process significantly.

Lark proceeded with bandaging the strange creature nodding to himself after the slobby work he believed to be a masterpiece in first aid in his own eyes. Nodding to himself and stepping back "Good...Thing. Whatever you are." After that Lark proceeded to move over to his fire and sit, looking into the fire and back at the strange creature briefly.

After the alien's makeshift first aid was finished, Anneve remained settled in place, unwilling to move and aggravate her injuries - and probably cause the shoddy bandaging to come loose - for no gain. To sate her curiosity and improve further interactions with this world, she listened attentively to the odd cat-person's words and tried to analyze them. He didn't say much, though, so there was little to go on but his body language and her own assumptions.

Lark sat for a while before moving to the toolbox with his supplies bringing up a small piece of food all tied up in some protective container, opening to eat slowly. What he was eatign seemed to be a mixture of dried fish and rice, chowing it down rather fast, clearly a hungry person or at least someone who eats alot. His eyes seemed to have forgot all about the creature he had just helped while he was eating, his mind drifts easy it seems.
